8th grade math teacher
Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to an exciting new year. I am looking forward to working with you and your child to achieve maximum success in mathematics!
I've been an 8th grade teacher here at Sutter for thirteen years. I love our school and it's my pleasure to communicate my knowledge and experience with your child. I'm passionate about sharing my love of math with my students.
I've got 2 adult daughters who graduated from LAUSD schools. My older daughter transferred from Pierce to UCSB and graduated in June 2015 with her bachelor's degree. My younger daughter is a senior at UCSB this year. She is a transfer student from Moorpark Community College. I'm so proud of both.
In my spare time you'll find me hiking the trails of Southern California. Two summers ago I hiked the 30 mile Inka Trail in Peru to the ruins of Machu Picchu. I love the people of Peru and saw many students studying math while I was there! Last summer I cruised the Panama Canal and experienced the rainforest, beaches and Embera Indian Village. Of course I was thinking about all of the math skill it took to construct the Panama Canal!

Most recently I explored the Mayan ruins of Tikal, Guatemala. The Mayans were one of the first groups to develop the concept of "zero" in mathematics.
My door is open to you and your child. Please feel free to contact me via this site if you have any concerns or questions.
